William McCann

In Memorial

William Martin McCann, 66, a life long resident of Scranton, died Tuesday in Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife is Kathren Harrington McCann. The couple has been married 43 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Katherine Burke McCann. He was a graduate of South Scranton Central Catholic High School and Lackawanna Junior College.
He was a faithful member of Saint John Neumann Parish.
Surviving are sons Timothy and Ryan, Belle Isle, Florida; Colin, San Diego, California and his sidekick, his rescue dog Mason. Also, his sisters Mary Kay McCann and Christine Howe and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Patrick and Mary McCann and his sister Nancy Reuther.

Bill was an avid Green Bay Packer and Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed working in his yard as much as he was able. On snowy mornings, he was the first one out cleaning sidewalks for both himself and his neighbors. He was very spiritual and his strong faith in God is what kept him going through his lengthy illnesses.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30am in St. John Neumann Parish, Nativity Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton, PA 18505. Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 until the time of Mass in the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Corey Brian Strauch Services, LLC, funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond RD, South Abington Twp., PA 18411. To leave an online condolence please visit the funeral home’s website or Facebook page.

    Dear Thelma & Wendy,
    So sorry to hear about the loss of Roger.He was a great guy and I’m sure he’ll be missed by
    all who knew him.I’ll never forgot the time he helped my parents by painting the inside of
    our house. He always had a great smile,joked around and always had a kind word to say.
    Please know that your families are in our thoughts and prayer during this difficult time.
