Virginia Berry

Virginia Mae Berry, 87, of Naples, formerly of Dunmore, died Friday September 2, 2016, in Harbor Chase Assisted Living, Naples, FL. She is the widow of the late Donald R. Berry.

Born in Muskingum County, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Olen W. and Phoebe Sharps Brown Clark. She was a 1945 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She worked as a Nurses aid and a secretary. She enjoyed reading, loved to socialize with friends and family. She was active in the Birthday Club, Pinochle Club, the Myrtle Street United Methodist Church and the Womens’s Club Prior to the church closing. She was also active in community organizations such as the YWCA Young Adult Council, East Scranton Cooperative and the PTA with the Dunmore School District.

Surviving are two daughters Sharon L. Hay and husband Jim, Easton, PA; Sheila M. Petras and husband Charles, Naples, FL, a son Wayne R. Berry and wife Heather, Arlington, VA; grandchildren Stephen Hay and wife Gretchen, Diane Hay, William Hay, Lauren Berry, Ryan Berry, Colin Berry; step grandchildren Susan Novak, Charles Petras and Michael Petras; and six great grandchildren.

The Funeral will be Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 11:00am in Corey Brian Strauch Services, LLC, funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505, to be officiated by the Rev. Betty Reilly. Interment to follow in Abington Hills Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10-11am in the funeral home.
