Wayne James Lance Sr.

Wayne James Lance, Sr., a life long resident of Scranton, passed away Thursday morning in Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. His wife the late Diane Ruth Sloss Lance, passed away January 6, 2024. The couple were married 55 years.

Born in Scranton son of the late Frederick Lance, Sr. and Hannah Rodger Lance he was a 1958 Graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He served in the United States Army and then worked for 31 years at Tobyhanna Army Depot until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Rattlesnake Gun Club, enjoyed hunting and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He and his wife were active members of Grace Bible Church, Dunmore.

Surviving are sons Wayne and wife Melissa, Virginia Beach, VA, Mark and wife Kelly, Scranton; grandchildren John, Jaden, Noah, Kayleigh, Addsion, Micah and Stella; nephews Fred Lace III and wife Isabelle and Robert “Chats” Lance and wife Alice.

He was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth; and brothers Robert, Fred Jr., and Ronald.

The funeral will be Tuesday September 2, 2025 at 11:00am in Grace Bible Church, 130 University Drive, Dunmore, PA 18512. Interment with Military Honors to follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9-10:45am in the church.
