Shirley Lucille Pugliese, 96, a resident of St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst Twp., a life long resident of Scranton, passed away at the Villa Tuesday. She is the widow of James R. Pugliese. The couple was married for 65 years.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Jack and Anna Margaret Ruth Young, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. She worked in the office of the family business Jame Pugliese Co. She was a member of the former Nativity of Our Lord Church, Scranton.
Shirley was a devoted wife and a loving, caring mother and grandmother.
Shirley loved to shop, spend time with her family, and enjoyed summer days by the pool
Surviving are a daughter Susan Crane and husband Robert, Clarks Green; son James F. Pugliese and wife Jennifer, Scranton; a sister Jeanne Schoen, Scranton; grandchildren Sarah Crane, Matthew Crane, Megan May, John Walsh, Joseph Walsh, Morgan Price, James A. Pugliese, Faith Pugliese; and 9 Great Grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by a daughter Nancy Walsh and a grandson Griffin Walsh.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the St. Mary's Villa for their wonderful care and compassion given to Shirley.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 at 1:00pm in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505.
A visitation will be held Friday from 11am – 1pm in the funeral home
