Joseph E. Verrastro Jr.

Joseph E. Verrastro, Jr., 81, a life long resident of Dunmore, died Tuesday at home. His wife of 34 years is Shirley M. Kimble Verrastro.

Born in Scranton son of the late Joseph E. and Carmella Guimento Verrastro he was a 1954 graduate of Dunmore High School and served with the United States Navy. He was a life long member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore. Joe was a Recreation Therapist at the State Hospital in Clarks Summit, until his retirement. Later he enjoyed volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house and the State Hospital. He was an active member of the Wayne Pike Region Antique Automobile Club of America,and was also a member of the National AACA and the Vila Capri Cruisers

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter Cheryl Kenyon and husband Robert, Clark Summit, a grand daughter Amber Sabatell and two great grand children Anthony and Adeline.

He was preceded in death by a son Charles Plauga.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30am in the Church of the Good Shepard, 1780 North Washington Ave., Scranton, PA 18509. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the service. Interment to follow in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.

A viewing will be held Friday from 5-8pm in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, LLC, funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 332 Wheeler Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.
