Jean Heidig Dippre, a long-time resident of Scranton, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at the age of 101. She was the widow of Gerald Dippre, who died in 2003.
Born on May 29, 1925, to the late John and Charlotte Fox Heidig, Jean witnessed some of history’s most defining moments. Yet through every season of life, the center of her world was always family. She also treasured the lasting friendships formed during her 30 years of employment with Stark’s Children’s Store. A woman of steadfast faith, she was a devoted member of the former Trinity Baptist Church.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Carol Olson, and her husband, Thomas Olson; a granddaughter, Jill Eidenberg; a granddaughter, Tara Stevens, and her husband, Bill Stevens, and three great-grandchildren, Meghan Eidenberg, Sean Eidenberg, and Lauren Stevens.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Willard Heidig, Robert Heidig, and Jack Heidig; four sisters, Doris Wenzel, Florabel Derenick, Marion Ronchi, and Ruth Brennan; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 11 a.m. in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505.
