Helen Ann Moran , 93 a resident of St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home, Elmhurst Twp., passed from this earth to join the rest of the “Moran Clan” on Saturday evening at the facility.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Timothy and Elizabeth Coleman Moran, she was a graduate of Scranton technical High School and went on to get her graduate in nursing. Even though her love was in health care , she went to pursue a career at Capital Records, and later went on to work at Shott Optical. She had always volunteered at St. Mary’s Villa and left Shott to work there until her retirement. She had been a member of the St. Mary’s Villa Auxillary as well and the Holy Family Auxillary. Helen enjoyed life as shown in her quick wit and ability to make people smile and feel comfortable.
She was always up for an adventure and enjoyed travel especially to Ireland and Poland. Her faith and family were her number one loves and showed this in everything she did. She was always had a talent in writing short stories, but later in life also developed a skill in painting , and shared these paintings with her second family at St. Mary’s Villa.
Helen was preceded in death by Her sister Mary Ammenhauser and her two brothers John and Tim, “The Moran Clan”.
She is survived by her neice Mary Ann Morgan, Nephews Robert Ammenhauser, Tim Moran and his wife Aurora and Tom Moran and his wife Lesley. Also by loving great neices and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 11 am in the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Home , 3 First Street, Spring Brook twp.,PA 18444 . Interment to follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary’s Villa Attn: Activities Dept. so that others may enjoy painting as she did.
