George John Yurchak III

George John Yurchak III, 70, Scranton, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was the husband to late Christine “Chris” Ann Bendner who passed in 2023. They were married 42 years.


Born and raised in Scranton, he attended Scranton Technical High School and in 1974, proudly joined the U.S. Navy. For over 20 years, he was employed by Allied Fence Company and then later worked for Keystone/Panel Prints before his retirement.


His hobbies included fishing, amateur radio, repairing electronics, and listening to his extensive record collection. He loved music, a good flea market, and would never turn down a sweet treat. He enjoyed playing 500 Rummy with his family and building puzzles with friends. Those who knew George will never forget his wit and infectious smile.


He was predeceased by his parents, George John Yurchak Jr. and Virginia “Jeanie” Dalrymple; his wife Chris; and son-in-law Matthew K. Shoener.


He is survived by his daughter, Virginia "Jenny" Shoener; his son George John IV, and wife, Krystle, and grandson, George “Georgie” John V; siblings Robert Yurchak, and partner Marissa Mason; and Shelley Ann Hague and partner Robert Phillips.


Honoring George’s wishes, a service was not held. His family would like to thank Regional Hospital and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
