Dorothy A. Cramer

Dorothy A. Cramer, a long time resident of Scranton, passed away Sunday (5-10-2026) at River Street Manor, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Born in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Watson H. Cramer, Sr. and Elizabeth Farkas Cramer, she was a graduate of Riverside High School, Buffalo, NY and a graduate of College Misericordia with a bachelor of Music Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts-Psychology. She worked for over 20 years for Bell Atlantic Telephone until 1976. She then worked as a Music Therapist at Scranton Counseling Center until 2003 when she retired. She also served with the United States Marines in 1956.

Surviving are a daughter Linda David and Husband John, Stroudsburg; a son in law John McDaniels, Plymouth; a sister Bonnie Prunella, Williamsville, NY; a brother Watson Cramer, Jr., Dunmore; a granddaughter Christine McDaniels; and great grandsons John Joseph McDaniels and Charles Michael Degavage; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Carol McDaniels, sisters Lynne Zelasko, Elizabeth Crumb, a brother William J. Cramer, and a grandson John McDaniels.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to River Street Manor, especially her aide Vodkar. And to Serenity Hospice for their compassion.

The funeral will be Thursday at 4pm in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505. Interment will be in Acacia Park, North Tonawanda, NY

A visitation will be held Thursday from 2-3:45pm in the funeral home.
