Donna D Boyd

Donna Durkin Boyd, 75, of North Scranton, died Thursday evening at Green Ridge Care Center. She was the widow of the late Eugene “Gene” C. Boyd, who died April 5, 2023. The couple was married for 50 years.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Winifred Noone Durkin, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She worked many positions at Mercy Hospital, ultimately finishing her career in the admissions office as day-shift supervisor.

Surviving are two sons, George Boyd and wife, Maureen, Scranton; and Michael Boyd, Jefferson Twp.; a brother, James Durkin, Moscow; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Rose DeSarro.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Winifred (James) Klee and Mary Margaret Kryeski; a brother, Bernard; and sister-in-law, Judith (James) Durkin.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St., Scranton, PA 18505. Interment will be private in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. A visitation will be held Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
