David Joseph Ballino Sr., 51, of Scranton died Tuesday at home. He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca Kellogg Ballino.
A lifelong resident of South Scranton, Dave was the son of Eugene “Chip” Ballino Sr. and Dianne Ballino, Jefferson Twp. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and worked as an IT deployment technician before taking on his favorite role as a stay-at-home dad. Dave had a real passion for cooking, honing his craft in many restaurants in his youth. He also had the talent to take apart anything and seamlessly put it back together, leading him to turn a spare room at home into his own computer workshop. He loved astronomy, the Packers, the Mets and, begrudgingly, the Knicks. But above all else, he loved, adored, and cherished his family. During the summers, he always found time to cast a line and fish at his family’s cottage; and for the holidays there, he always filled the room with joy and warmth. He loved his wife Rebecca unconditionally with all his heart and soul. He loved and adored
his granddaughter Lily and considered his son, Elliott, his greatest joy and achievement in life.
He was overwhelmingly proud of everything his son accomplished.
Also surviving are his son, Elliott David Ballino and fiancée Madison Pachucy, Fort Collins, CO; granddaughter and “Pop Pop’s Princess” Lily Ballino, Clarks Summit; brother, Eugene Ballino Jr., Scranton, and partner Diane Dziedzic, West Wyoming; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son David Jr., whose memory he cherished and loved every day; maternal grandparents Frank and Laura McGuire, paternal grandparents Russell and Bertha Ballino, and an uncle, Russell Ballino Jr.
Dave was the definition of a kind soul too good for this world. He was soft-spoken, loyal, humble, respectful, empathetic, and loved by all. He will forever be in our hearts and will be missed by many.
A private memorial service to celebrate the life and memory of Dave will beheld at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, Scranton. To send the family an online condolence go towww.strauchfuneralhomescranton.com.
