Mattie Jane Rassmusson, 89, of Madison Twp., passed away Sunday evening at Linwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Scranton. She was the widow of the late Roy James Rassmusson.
Born in Eagle Rock, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harry Monroe Kelly and Mavid Frances Gilbert Kelly. She worked as a nanny in Virginia after marring Roy. The couple later moved to Wisconsin and after the death of her husband, Mattie moved to Madison Twp., where she resided with her son. She was a member of the Thornhurst United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, her cats, caring for children and had a deep love for her church.
Surviving are a daughter, Sarah Frances Eckdahl, Delano, Minn.; sons, Larry Alvin Rassmusson, Laurium, Mich.; and Chris James Rassmusson, Madison Twp.; grandchildren Elias Chamberlain and wife Alyssa Chamberlain, Caleb Chamberlain and wife Misheel Chamberlain, Jordan Chamberlain and wife Chrissy Chamberlain, Thomas Chamberlain and wife Ariel Chamberlain, Hannah Smith and husband Harley Smith, Brandon Rassmusson, Peter Eckdahl, James Eckdahl, Sarah Waldron and husband Joe Waldron, Scott Rassmusson, Kim Saunders, Jacob Chamberlain and great grandchildren Solomen Chamberlain, Ezra Chamberlain, Amlem Chamberlain, Peyton Chamberlain, Temperance Chamberlain, Katrina Chamberlain, Jordan Jr Chamberlain, Caleb Chamberlain, Roman Chamberlain, Raelynn Chamberlain, Camden Chamberlain, Trinity Rassmusson, Kairyn Saunders- Rassmusson, Kayden Chamberlain
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Elaine Chamberlian; and a brother, Harry Joseph Kelly.
A memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Thornhurst United Methodist Church, 342 Old River Road, Thornhurst, PA 18424, with the Rev. Donald DeGrout, pastor to officiate.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thornhust United Methodist Church, 342 Old River Road, Thornhurst, PA 18424.
