
Joan H. Owen Ives, 86, of Wantage New Jersey, passed away Friday evening (12-13-2019) at Chilton Memorial Medical Center, Pompton Plains, New Jersey. She is the widow of the late Willard R. Ives.
Born in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late George Daniel and Ruth Emmaline Hickok Owen, Joan was a graduate of Bayonne High School, Bayonne, NJ. Early in her life she worked at IBM and after her children were grown worked at Peckman’s Pharmacy in Jersey City, NJ. She was a member of the United Reformed Church, Jersey City where she met her husband of 49 years.
Joan was a spunky gal with a great sense of humor and loved her family deeply taking great interest in each of their lives. She was always reading and was passionate about genealogy and animals, especially deer and cardinals. Joan enjoyed traveling with her family on vacations, to her grandson’s hockey games and genealogy research trips with her daughter and son-in-law. She will be sorely missed in their lives.
Surviving are a daughter Janet Price and husband John, Wantage, NJ; a son Willard G. Ives, and wife Tracy, Pittsgrove, NJ; a grandson Kurt M. Ives; a granddaughter Sophie Troiani.
She was preceded in death by a brother George Walter Owen.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12 noon in the Corey Brian Strauch Services, LLC, Funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11am to 12 noon in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
