Donna J. Adler

Donna J. Adler, 64, of Scranton died Friday October 23, 2015 at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She is the wife of Irwin Adler.

Born in Johnsonburg, PA she was the daughter of the Vernon Sallack and the late Virginia Sallack, she graduated valedictorian of her class at Johnsonburg High School and received degrees from Thiel College and Clarion University. She retired from the Scranton Public Library.

Donna was a member of the Lackawanna Historical Society, the Lackawanna Garden Club, the Friends of the Library, the Century Club, the Anthracite Heritage Museum and the Everhart Museum and was a generous supporter of numerous other organizations and charitable causes.

Donna’s garden was her source of pleasure and relaxation and her travels to various locations around the United States as well as Canada, England and Switzerland were treasured.

Surviving in addition to her husband and father are numerous devoted friends and relatives.

Donna will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 1pm in the St. Mathews United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 425 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, with the Rev Lester Stephenson, pastor, officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:15pm until the time of the services in the church.

Interment was private in Dunmore Cemetery and entrusted to Corey Brian Strauch Services, funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Lackawanna Historical Society or to the donor’s favorite charity.
