
Agatha “Aggie” Libassi Westerhoff, formerly of Scranton, PA, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer on Tuesday March 3, 2020 in Hendersonville, NC. She was the widow of Jack H. Westerhoff. They were married for over 40 years.
Born September 11, 1948 in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Anthony Libassi of Scranton, PA.
Aggie worked as an OR nurse at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C for 25 years. After retiring and moving to Brevard, NC with her husband, she turned her passion for baking the traditional Italian cookies and desserts she grew up with into a business and became known around town as “The Italian Cookie Lady”. She enjoyed traveling in her later years and visited her family’s former town in Sicily, Italy in 2018.
Surviving are her three children, Kristin Meola and husband David of Scranton, PA; John Westerhoff of Hendersonville, NC and Jenny Westerhoff of Los Angeles, CA; a sister Pearl Snelling and husband Steven of Edison, TN, God-daughter Jennifer Esken , many cousins, friends, and her pride and joy; her “babies” her grandchildren, Olivia and Max Meola of Scranton, PA whom she loved to spoil with trips to “Hands-On” and “O.P. Taylor’s Toy Store” in NC.
